Abstract
In 1994, a follow-up survey to a study of women in technical and scientific fields was conducted to examine the workplace environment, employees´ goals, the relationship between women´s and men´s personal lives and their work, and interpersonal communication styles. The paper specifically examines interpersonal communication styles, including use of tentative, collaborative, and gender-specific language and perceptions of interruptions. Results appear to indicate that in scientific/technical communities, men and women have adopted androgynous language patterns and that there is little difference between men and women´s communication styles
