Abstract :
There is a growing interest in reducing antenna which can be accomplished using material and reactive loading (inductive and/or capacitive). In this paper, we focus on the inductive loading of a wire log-spiral antenna. A common challenge that occurs when miniaturizing any broadband antenna is determining the optimal loading profile that improves the realized gain at frequencies where the antenna is electrically small while maintaining the realized gain at higher frequencies. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to determine the optimal inductive loading profile for a wire log-spiral antenna using a genetic algorithm (GA).
