Abstract
The paper suggests that the fields of adult education and technical communication are converging. The birth of the information society has resulted in the development of a new kind of organization: the learning organization. The overriding importance of information is also creating the conditions necessary for the field of technical communication to achieve a new status. The paper discusses these trends, and suggests that technical communicators would be wise to become familiar with adult learning research
