Abstract :
This paper discusses the design method of the active vibration isolator for a multi-degree-of-freedom structure such as a tall building. First, the experimental result shows that the design method of minimization of interaction between the controlled structure and its base is useful to achieve an adequate isolation performance. Next, in the simulation for a real building, the controller is designed for the active vibration isolator where the passive elements are installed in parallel with the active element. We also examine the performance of control robustness against the nonlinearity of the passive elements, which depends on the amplitude of the input disturbance
