Abstract :
Insulators used for 23 kV distribution lines working under high pollution conditions were removed from field. These insulators were evaluated in a fog chamber. The results showed that the insulator profile has a strong effect on the performance of the insulator under very heavy pollution and humidity conditions. Insulators having a simple profile electrically failed under light pollution conditions. While, insulators having a complex profile did not fail under very heavy pollution conditions. The results obtained for each insulator evaluated are presented in This work.
