Abstract :
Materials of different molecular structure may have different degree of resistance to failure by treeing. Hence, strengthening molecular structure of the basic polymer could offer substantial resistance to initiation and propagation of prebreakdown channels. This work presents the results of investigation carried out using cross-linkable linear low density polyethylene with tree retarding additive in low concentration. The additive has shown tremendous improvement in resisting the initiation and propagation of pre breakdown channels.
