Abstract
This paper investigates the effect of information preprocessing on the fuzziness of the inference, within the context of a hierarchical control system. In a specific hierarchical model each layer consists of a knowledge system which employs fuzzy logic base decision making. Lower level information has to be preprocessed for use in an upper level knowledge system. Generally, the fuzziness increases with such preprocessing, and furthermore the fuzziness of the control inference also increases with that of the context. These ideas are explored in the paper, through background information, examples and some general results
