Abstract :
A new directional coupler/hybrid type where the principle function is based on higher order mode propagation in an overmoded waveguide region is presented. General design aspects, namely mode transfer functions, interfacing, and layout are discussed. Experimental verification is provided by a 3 dB hybrid for a mm-wave frequency band.
