Abstract
In this paper, we will present a new design of a directive antenna based on a cylindrical EBG structure. The EBG structure is made using the microstrip technology. The defects are also realized with microstrip elements. This design is suitable to conceive an optimal and easily realizable control circuit. First, an exhaustive parametric study of the retained EBG structure will be presented. Then, an antenna with a cylindrical EBG structure fed by a dipole placed in its center will be designed. All the important parameters of the antenna will be considered. Finally, a simple and easy way to achieve a beamsteering will be described.
