Engineering management: From pioneers years to year 2010

A review is presented of the early years in the engineering management field, and market demands and curricula of the future for this field are forecast. A survey made by the author of over one-hundred employers of engineers to determine the academic and experiential know-how desired for engineers over the next ten, or more, years is described and discussed. Management expertise is a major parameter of the survey, and the author´s personal experience during the pioneer period of engineering management is perceived to be beneficial in interpreting data derived from the ongoing marked survey.
