Abstract :
This paper analyzes the main socio-economic benefits of highway projects, then based on input-output model, respectively establishes the evaluation models of direct economic benefits and indirect economic benefits. In the last of the paper, an empirical research was conducted, taking Jinji highway in Tianjin as an example. The results show that the direct economic benefit has a positive relation with the investment each year and indirect economic benefit has a significant increasing trend from the second operational year. Input-output is verified to be a simple and valid method for quantitative study of socio-economic benefits of highway projects, and it could provide theoretical basis for relevant policy making of governments.
