Abstract :
Progress in replacing a heterogeneous triplex of outdated control systems with a single system is reported. Hardware and software standards are prominently used to allow incremental upgrades, for best use of rapidly changing technology, for off-the-shelf computer and I/O (input/output) hardware, and for several commercial software packages. A nonhierarchical architecture with a distributed run-time database is employed
