Abstract
This paper presents the calculation principles of lightning current distribution for metallic structures and the magnetic induction evaluation both inside and outside of them. As an application example, an assumed high building is used for evaluating the current distributions among its metallic frames, and the gap voltage and loop current of a metallic rectangular frame placed inside the building. The gap voltage between the building frame and a ground bus vertically placed in the middle of the building is also calculated. The verification and application show that the calculation principles and the associated computer program can be used in engineering studies of lightning current distributions and magnetic inductions for metallic structures
