Abstract :
We propose in this paper an efficient early termination algorithm of intra prediction for H.264/AVC. It uses the spatial correlation after 16times16 inter prediction to make the judgement on whether to discard intra prediction or not. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can save the encoding time of H.264/AVC (JM98) between 25-45% with negligible degradation in the quality
