Abstract
The post-wall waveguide is realized by making two rows of via-holes in a metal-clad dielectric substrate and metal-plating their walls, as introduced at first in the feed waveguide of the post-wall waveguide-fed parallel-plate slot array antenna. The post-wall waveguide structures can be obtained by conventional print-circuit-board fabrication technique at low cost. The post wall replaces with a solid metal wall equivalently. The post-wall waveguide has been called differently as "laminated waveguide" or "substrate integrated waveguide", the propagation mechanism of these waveguides is the same. The fence guide also consists of two rows of metal posts. However it is one of open waveguides, which is modification of the H guide. The fence guide is different from the post-wall waveguide in terms of structure. This paper presents the up-to-date results of the post-wall waveguide slot array antennas.
