Abstract :
This paper sets forth the use of a three-phase synchronous reluctance generator feeding a pulse-width modulation (PWM) based AC/DC buck rectifier to produce controllable AC and/or DC power. This is made possible by controlling both the modulation magnitude and phase angle of the rectifier. This generating scheme is targeted for application requirements for equipment on airplanes, ships or ground vehicles with high speed turbines to which the synchronous reluctance generator may be directly connected. Steady-state and transient performance of this system is comprehensively investigated
