Abstract :
To increase the capabilities of multifunction and multifrequency antennas, a frequency selective surface should also be designed to operate over multiple frequency bands. This paper deals with the scattering of a plane wave incident upon a two-dimensional periodic array of multiple conducting plates with different lengths. It is well known that the plate length is roughly half a wavelength where the resonance occurs. It is therefore clear that such frequency selective surfaces consisting of multiple conducting plates of different lengths would have multiple resonances, which lead to the multiband property. In order to study the multiband property of frequency selective surfaces with multiple dipoles in one unit cell, we employ the periodic moment method (PMM) (C.C. Chen, 1970), (B.A. Munk, 2000) to simulate its reflection and transmission characteristics.
