Abstract :
Managing electronic records is central in universities. Universities retain records for various purposes such as legal, financial other than help to improve accountability. Retaining electronic records is a complex process particularly medium of storage and the duration for keeping the records. It is paramount important for every university to implement records retention schedule so as to eliminate valueless records and records which have fulfilled their function from residing in office areas. This study seeks to indicate to importance of implementing automated retention schedule. This is a qualitative approach research gathering data by means of interview. Findings revealed that it is important for a university to embark on automated records retention schedule as it help the organization to run smoothly.
