  • Abstract
The tooling of coil winding machines is critical to the optimum performance of the winding machine and to the quality of the coil being wound. The design of tooling for the machines requires detailed consideration of the coil. The design of the bobbin (if used), wire size and covering, wire tension winding terminations, type of winding, type of machine to be used together with the speed it is intended to run the machine are also critical. The tooling engineer´s input at the coil and bobbin design stage is very beneficial in ensuring overall product quality and that cost objectives are met.
