Abstract :
The authors present an integrated design automation system, IIDAT, for the design of microprocessor-based intelligent interfaces. It is implemented on the basis of a knowledge-based expert system to support the following functions: automatic design of microprocessor-based intelligent interface (MII) adapters from the specification at system level; automatic generation of control programs for handling MII; and, automatic linking to printed-circuit-board layout and circuit simulation packages. In addition, several functions are contained to realize a modularized, hierarchical, and flexible design automation tool
