Abstract :
A high-frequency asymptotic approach based on Green´s formula has been used to develop a unifying framework for scattering of a plane electromagnetic wave of arbitrary incidence from a perfectly conducting planar disk of arbitrary shape with a smooth edge. The method provides asymptotic formulas of uniform geometrical theory of diffraction to describe the scattered field in the near field zone. A particular case of scattering of transverse electric linear polarized wave (TE case) from a disk is considered in comparison with the Kirchhoff approximation. The computer code based on the asymptotic formulas proved to be very fast and quite accurate
