Abstract :
This paper proposes an analysis of copper losses within a classical winding structure of power transformer (copper foil on secondary side). A model of such a structure with a semi-empirical formula, enhanced by 2D-finite element simulation, leads to further understanding of the copper losses mechanisms and associated design guidelines. Related practical designs of power transformers and their power density are presented.
