Abstract
In this paper, a novel left-handed transmission line (LH TL) is proposed using defected ground structure (DGS) with inter-digital gap (IDG). The conventional DGS has low series capacitance value by connecting slot between the defected areas. However, because the IDG is used, the proposed structure has the lower resonance frequency and higher series capacitance value than those of the conventional DGS in case of the same defected area. Therefore, IDG in the ground can make the required range of negative permeability in low frequency range where permittivity has negative, which is obtained by the grounded via hole.
