Abstract
A lot of effort has been devoted to the determination of the state-of-health of valve regulated lead acid (VRLA) cells by means of the measurement of internal resistance, impedance or conductance but the large dispersion between cells does not permit to obtain absolute information about the condition of cells. By combining these measurements with other tests such as float current monitoring a better diagnosis is possible. In this paper, the authors present noise measurements as a new tool for battery testing.
