Abstract :
The island of Corsica is ideally situated between all the western geographic spaces and easily accessible thanks to winds and sea currents, and it appears as a destination very desired on the antique chessboard. Phoenicians, Etruscans, Phoceens, Punic, Syracusians and Romans settle on the island, with more or less fortune, so testifying to its strategic position. Corsica enters the routes of navigation, quoted by numerous antique Greek and Latin authors. Constituent of the Roman world, due to its strategic position, it participates in the maritime commerce of the Mediterranean as shown by the presence on the ground of numerous products coming from the Italian Peninsula, from the East, from Spain and from Africa.
