Abstract :
This paper describes a time-domain finite element implementation of the second-order perfectly matched layer (PML) previously proposed for the FDTD method. Numerical results show that the finite element implementation of the second-order PML is accurate and stable and the second-order PML is highly effective for the absorption of both propagating and evanescent waves of all spectrum.
