Abstract
Distributed DC battery supported power systems are a requirement of many industries. The management and maintenance of such systems presents unique difficulties due to the quantity and distributed nature of the industries involved. Astute solutions are therefore required if we are to significantly reduce maintenance costs and improve the quality of service. The efficient application of technology to resolve the issues of managing these assets including the other services at each location, such as air-conditioning, generators and security are discussed within a variety of different situations. The paper emphasises the importance of an integrated approach to remote site management and the application of central management platforms in decision making. Specific conclusions are reviewed and elaborated upon.
