Abstract
This paper presents the fabrication of benzocyclobutene strip optical waveguides and the measurement of their birefringence properties. The experimental results are shown to agree with the theoretical calculation. The condition for obtaining zero birefringence is highlighted. These waveguides are potentially useful for the construction of polarization-insensitive polymer-based optical devices.
