Abstract
Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs) are experiencing higher data rate and radius coverage, making possible high quality audio and video transmission. An IPTV system can be built in any home using the Wireless IEEE 802.11n standard because it provides enough data rate and range than the other IEEE 802.11 variants. IEEE 802.1a/b/g standards do not offer enough bandwidth to provide several ITPV channels to the customers. Moreover, in many cases wireless point to point links are needed to transfer IPTV between faraway places. In this paper, we are going to test the performance of the IPTV over IEEE 802.11n and we will provide the QoS parameters measured in three test benches with up to 17 IPTV customers. Nobody has tested the IPTV performance over IEEE 802.11n until this moment and this work can be used by IPTV service providers in order to know the performance of the IPTV in a wireless access network and in the customer´s home wireless network.
