  • Abstract
As reflected by the explosive growth of e-business and "dot-com" business, the role of the telecommunications industry in society is becoming increasingly important. Power-supply facilities used to provide services in this age must be highly reliable as well as optimized to satisfy economical demands. In this regard, a particular feature of new services is that heat-generation density is high compared to communication systems in conventional telephone systems. There is consequently the fear that a system could fail due to heat-related circumstances even if the supply of power to telecommunications equipment is sufficiently reliable. Power supplies used by air conditioning equipment must therefore possess high-quality characteristics just as those used by telecommunications equipment. The scope of this paper is a method for designing high-reliability power supplies for air conditioning systems used in telecommunications systems having high heat-generation density as in a data center.
