Abstract
In this paper, the decision feedback scheme, which is based on a real time protocol, is designed. It is used for streaming video over UMTS transport channels. Implementing RTCP on top of UDP, where UDP takes care of transmission of the video sequence and RTCP provides feedback to applications about the transmission quality. RTCP uses sender reports and receiver reports, which contain useful statistical information. RTCP is used for getting the statistical control information. This mechanism is used to estimate the appropriate transmission rate for the real time video sequence based on the control information. The design of a mechanism for monitoring the network condition and estimating the appropriate rate for the transmission of the multimedia data. This paper aims at improving the quality of service of multimedia streaming in 3G network by implementing the concept of decision feedback scheme with RTCP. This scheme takes care of efficient usage of available bandwidth by dynamically adopting the transmission rate according to the network conditions.
