Abstract
Experiments have been conducted to determine the sensitivity and effectiveness of terahertz based techniques in determining the water content in industrially relevant water-oil emulsions. Using a quantum cascade laser (QCL) at 2.7 THz and a specifically designed flow-through cell the potential of the technique for on-line measurements of flowing emulsions was demonstrated.
