Abstract
This paper discusses the undemonstrable phenomena that can occur when the EMTP is used for simulation of some types of networks, consisting of power electronics, and/or voltage-, current controlled elements. The synchronous response procedure (SRP) is suggested for elimination of these phenomena. Meanwhile the advantage of the critical damping adjustment technique (CDA) for approximate simulation of the impulse function is highlighted and utilized. The effectiveness of the SRP and improved CDA procedure is illustrated with results
