Abstract :
This paper presents a novel omnidirectional tag antenna design for paper reel identification. The performance of the antenna design is analyzed with simulations, input impedance measurements and practical read range measurements. The tag antenna has good omnidirectional reading performance when affixed to an industrial paper reel. Future work will include modifying the antenna design for improved read ranges and confirming the performance with different paper qualities. In addition, other novel tag antenna designs for paper reel identification, such as array-type tag antenna designs, will be developed.
