Abstract :
The NGC `Research into MW and MVAr Demand´ project has developed several data analysis methods to enable the efficient and accurate representation of large amount demand information with manageable engineering effort. In summary, these techniques are: a grouping method to cluster and identify the characteristic patterns in demand data; the application of the grouping method to efficiently manage the planning studies; and a data compression and representation technique for supply point demand modelling. This paper reports these methods. It has been realised that these techniques may have potential use in general data analysis problems
