Abstract
A description is given of the curriculum and laboratory development in the area of digital communications undertaken at Purdue University in the Department of Electrical Engineering Technology. The communications curriculum includes a fundamental course in analog communications, a digital communications course focusing on the recent changes in telecommunications, and a local area networks course focusing on computer communications, especially those related to industrial applications. The curriculum development includes extensive and on-going laboratory development to support the new technologies. Specific details of the laboratory projects and the method by which the laboratory was developed and funded are discussed
