Abstract :
The authors examine the transmission capacity of Chinese speech on 3COM Ethernet under combined voice and data loads according to the statistical characteristics of Chinese speech. A simulation technique is used. The relationship between the speech transmission capacity and offered data traffic is studied. The research results show that voice real-time communication can be realized on 3COM Ethernet. When the offered data load is heavy, the voice transmission quality cannot be guaranteed. If the collision delay algorithm is modified, the transmission capacity of Chinese speech will be increased
