Title :
T2 ACSR conductors: lessons learned
Author_Institution :
Central Iowa Power Cooperative, Cedar Rapids, IA, USA
Abstract :
Central Iowa Power (CIPCO) has been rebuilding and upgrading approximately 30 miles of 34.5 kV lines each year since 1987. CIPCO´s service territory has a rich history of damaging ice and wind storms. T2 ACSR conductors have been used on much of the construction in an effort to reduce or eliminate the damage. Many lessons have been learned about the use of T2 conductor, specifically in the areas of design, purchasing, associated hardware, installation, and long-term performance
