Abstract
A structure consisting of a metallic sphere intersected by a metallic circular disk is considered. Disk and sphere have a common center, and the radius r=b of the disk is greater than the radius r=a of the sphere. Thus, the structure resembles the planet Saturn with its disks. This structure is considered as a validation tool for computer codes developed for the purpose of detecting hidden mines, under a Science for Peace Project sponsored by NATO. The structure is subject to an incident plane electromagnetic wave with arbitrary direction of incidence and arbitrary polarization, and the analysis is conducted in the frequency domain, with angular frequency omega and an omitted time- dependence factor exp(jomegat).
