Abstract :
This paper describes the wave power installation located on the Island of Islay, which lies off the Western coast of Scotland, UK. A system simulation has been conducted and validated by comparison between predicted results and measured data. In order to reduce power ripple content, an optimisation study has been performed and optimum parameters are suggested. A further study of alternative generator candidates such as double-cage machines has been carried out and the results presented. The results demonstrate that proper design can improve the dynamic performance of the system and reduce the output power fluctuation
