Abstract :
Characteristics of near self-complementary metallic checkerboard patterns (MCPs) are discussed in this paper. It is found that the terahertz transmission spectra critically depend on whether the metal squares contact each other or not. This means that a small structural change induces a large change of the spectra. This property will be used for sensors, terahertz modulators, etc.
