Abstract :
The purpose of this research is to improve design flexibility of array antenna operating on traveling-wave excitation. Beam direction can be controlled by phase change caused by transmitting through the periodic structure in slotted waveguide. The slot array antenna on a left-handed waveguide (LHWG) is designed in this paper. The antenna was composed of slots on a left-handed waveguide in which pairs of capacitive series stub on H-plane and inductive iris are periodically arranged to give the phase advance in the waveguide. Radiation pattern of fabricated antenna was measured and the characteristic of a left-handed transmission line was confirmed. Moreover, it was confirmed to be able to scan the beam direction by changing the length of the capacitive series stub.
