Abstract :
A method is presented for synthesizing the constrained sum and difference pattern of a circular array used by a secondary surveillance radar. The technique, based on the sample matrix inversion (SMI) approach, is shown to be considerably more efficient than solving the problem by nonlinear, iterative optimization. It is applied to measured data from a 108-element circular L-band array.
