Abstract :
Next generation (next-gen) Implantable Medical Devices (IMDs) attract significant scientific interest for early diagnosis, continuous monitoring and treatment. Wireless Intra-cranial Pressure (ICP) monitoring devices have been proposed for sub-dural and epidural implantation. The proposed devices overcome several limitations of existing wired techniques, providing great benefits for next-gen wireless ICP devices. In this work, we evaluate the telemetry link performance between a miniature biocompatible implantable antenna and an exterior dipole in MedRadio band. Moreover, we numerically assess the safety performance of the proposed antenna in terms of Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) and temperature increase in the surrounding head tissues.
