Abstract :
In this paper, the Floquet-mode technique and method of moments are compared for calculating the near-field scattering by a large number of parallel conducting rods in front of a line source. In order to apply the Floquet-mode technique, a line source excitation is assumed as a spectrum of one-dimensional problems (plane-wave incident). Each rod is modeled by an array of thin wires subject to the ldquosame surface areardquo rule of thumb. It is observed that the Floquet-mode technique is computationally more efficient than the method of moments for a large number of rods.
