Abstract
This paper deals with a model of three-phase salient-pole synchronous machines. The model is obtained from the Lagrangepsilas formalism starting from the magnetic co-energy function. It is valid for; the assumed linearity or the non-linearity of the machine magnetic circuit. This model does not use inductances for both cases. The model is based on a relationship between the total MMF of all machine windings and the co-energy. Instead of inductances, two functions describing electro-magnetic phenomena in a machine are introduced. The paper presents how to solve the proposed model equations for dynamic and steady state performances.
