Abstract :
The tongue diagnosis is an important diagnostic method in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). However, most experience of tongue diagnosis depends on the subjective analysis of the examiners. In this paper, we develop a prototype of a novel computerized system for tongue diagnosis (CSTD). The system includes Image Acquisition Module, Image Processing Module, Tongue Image Database and Tongue Diagnosis Engine. In contrast to the existing CSTD, the proposed system aims to establish the mapping relationship between quantitative tongue features and diseases via the Support Vector Machine (SVM). The experimental results show that the system can properly identify six kinds of disease with the average accuracy up to 85% and the execution time of the whole diagnosis process is less than 4 seconds.
