Abstract
A size-reduced 10 Gb/s transponder has been developed employing a single-chip out-of-band FEC codec LSI and multi-chip modules. The transponder allows improvement in the bit- error-rate from 1 E-6 after 10 Gb/s×80 ch transmission with optical signal to noise ratio (OSNR) of 18 dB to become error-free.
