Abstract :
Summary Form only given, as follows. Plasma-broadened visible spectra have long been used to infer plasma parameters. With the development of long-wavelength detector technology and the improvement of computational capabilities, infrared spectra are a very promising probe since their greater sensitivity allows very accurate determination of plasma parameters. Infrared spectra of oxygen in the region 5-8 mu m were modeled for a temperature around 10000 K and densities of 10/sup 14/-10/sup 16/ e/cm/sup 3/. The spectra were seen to be very sensitive to the plasma density.<>
