Abstract :
In this paper, we present an innovative scheme that efficiently creates MP4 files from raw audio and video files, and hints them into streamable files. We utilize the DTQ structure for video hinting and SLS for audio hinting. Unlike hinting schemes in literatures where extractors and aggregators are heavily relied, none of them are required in our system. In the proposed system, media layers are presented as separate media tracks and the hint tracks are generated from the corresponding media tracks. The resulting MP4 files comply with the ISO/IEC 14496-14 standards except the extension for scalability. They are suitable for servers that support scalable multimedia. The paper provides a good guideline and paradigm for researchers and developers in the field of streaming technologies.
